Planetarium X Dripping Night One: Drew McDowall, aka-Sol and Eamon Harkin

Planetarium is an event for listening deeply. We ask everyone who attends to remain silent in the listening area and to step outside the space for any conversations. We also ask that there is no phone use in the entire space. If that sounds good to you, read on... _/_/_/_/_/_/ Planetarium returns to the private loft in Ridgewood, this time in collaboration with Dripping. There are amps and a sub from EM/IA to go with the five Klipschorns in the room. (It sounds better than ever.) Bring blankets, sleeping bags, pillows, an eye mask and anything else you need to get comfortable and go deep. We do a small amount of reservations so that there's room to lie down. For the first night of the series, Planetarium resident Eamon Harkin is joined by Drew McDowall, who is performing live, and Dripping resident, aka-sol, who will DJ. _/_/_/_/_/_/ DREW MCDOWALL _/_/_/_/_/_/ Drew McDowall’s work occupies a space between the industrial and devotional. Known for his role in the legendary UK experimental outfit, Coil, and for a decades-long body of solo work, McDowall's live performances unfold slowly, allowing texture, tone, and emotional resonance to take precedence over form. Quietly overwhelming, profoundly present. _/_/_/_/_/_/ AKA-SOL _/_/_/_/_/_/ aka-sol is a Dripping resident focused on global dance music informed by psychedelic encounters and the sensual nature of sound. Their DJ sets are spacey and dynamic, always defying linearity, while maintaining the trance induced essence of the clubbing experience. _/_/_/_/_/_/ EAMON HARKIN _/_/_/_/_/_/ Eamon Harkin is one half of the partnership that conceived of and started Mister Saturday Night, Mister Sunday, Planetarium and Nowadays. As a DJ, label owner, music producer and venue operator, Eamon cares little for the boundaries of musical genre, finding greater interest in vibe, connection and storytelling. In his Planetarium sets, he often calls on the music of his home in Ireland, weaving together ancient and modern sounds to land the listener in their body and connect them to their past. _/_/_/_/_/_/ DINNER + BYO DRINKS _/_/_/_/_/_/ Dinner will be served by Marisa Mendez Marthaller aka Soup Doula between 7pm and 8pm, when we'll keep the lights up and have a more social hour before we go deep. There will be two soups (one of them vegan) served with hunks of fresh baked bread. Dinner is included with your contribution. (You are welcome to bring your own dinner if you have specific dietary needs.) Otherwise, you can bring your own drinks (and your own cups). Just avoid cans. (The crack when they open is loud.) We'll have all the creature comforts that you might otherwise need inside, so you never have to leave the bubble we're creating. _/_/_/_/_/_/ RESERVATIONS + LOCATION _/_/_/_/_/_/ Because we do Planetarium at a private space, we only send the location info to people who reserve space in advance. We'll send out the location from ask@mistersaturdaynight.com on the morning of the session. Make sure to safe list that email address so you receive the notification. Also, before you make your reservation, be sure to check that the email address you have on file with RA is one that you can actually access. If you have not received this email by noon on Thursday, March 5, but have reserved a spot, search your spam, junk, promotions and other folders for an email from ask@mistersaturdaynight.com. The subject is always something like: "Please Read: All The Info For Planetarium". So you know how to plan, we can tell you it's not too far from Nowadays, less than five minutes from the Halsey L. If reservations are unavailable for this weekend's events when you are looking, activate the notification function on this page, and you'll get an email if space becomes available. The resale system opens after all dates in a weekend are sold out and stays active until noon on the day before the event.
