A vivid voice within a movement that embraces the full spectrum of club culture, he blends filtered house, techno, UK garage, and hard house into dance music that feels both euphoric and tinged with nostalgia. Mirroring his productions, his DJ sets arm-flailing, sweat-drenched, and physically immersive forge a striking connection between the ecstatic memories of 90s rave culture and the ever-evolving hybrids of today’s dance floor. Born in Strasbourg and raised between France and India, where he spent four years at an English-speaking school, LABAT’s musical journey began early. At just seven years old, he started mixing on turntables passed down by his older brother, a hip-hop and scratching enthusiast. By 15, he was already playing his first nightclub gigs, earning €50 a night and gravitating toward Detroit and minimal techno, while his mother waited outside. At 20, he secured his first international bookings and relocated to Lyon, where he took up a residency at Café Galerie and committed fully to DJing. An invitation to perform at Nuits Sonores soon followed, leading to his first Boiler Room session—and he’s been on the road ever since.
