Shimza returns to NYC for a special indoor edition of Shimza & Co at Knockdown Center on April 3rd. Widely considered one of the leading figures in Afro-tech, Shimza has carved out a singular space in the global scene. Hailing from Tembisa, South Africa, his sound bridges driving percussion with deep, melodic tension—always rooted in his heritage, always delivered with sharp technical control. Nicknamed the “Effect Master” for a reason, Shimza’s sets have moved crowds across the world—from Ultra South Africa and SXM Festival to Paradise Ibiza, Privilege, and his now-iconic Cercle performance at the Citadelle de Sisteron in France. He’s also a cultural force offstage. Through Kunye Records, Shimza provides a platform for African electronic talent, and his One Man Show continues to blend community impact with world-class music. Last time Shimza played New York, it was under the K Bridge for a massive open-air party that ended with a surprise B2B alongside Black Coffee—a moment that still echoes in the city’s underground. This time, the event moves indoors, but the energy remains.
